Other Help Needed

ONE DAY CAMP HELP (application and training not required)

Pre-Camp Work Day: There will be a lot of camp preparation to help with from wrapping presents, to labeling T-shirts to prepping wood working materials.  If you are willing to jump in, we would love the help.

Registration Team: We need a large number of volunteers to help with Camper Check-In. Must be available to serve at the church from 7:30am – 10:00am on Monday, June 26th. Helpers will be assigned to greet campers, carry luggage, check for lice, and help entertain the campers before we set off to camp.

Lice Laundry: We need a volunteer with a servant heart who is available Monday, June 26th from 9:30am -1:30pm. Any campers who are found to have lice, are treated before coming to camp. We also want to make sure that their luggage doesn’t bring any lice to camp either. So we need a volunteer to take that luggage to the laundromat, wash and fold it all, and drive it up to camp before 1:30pm.

Post-Camp Laundry: This is a great opportunity for a small group or team of people to take on together. We have loads of towels, sheets and blankets that need to be washed after camp, folded and stored for next year. It needs to be picked up from the church on Friday evening June 30th, and returned within a week.   It could be a fun day at the laundromat with friends or a small group service project!

Camp Runners: We need people on call each day to grab stuff for us and bring it to camp. In order to treat our campers royally we need to do a lot of things behind the scenes. We need you to help make the magic happen. If you are willing to be on call during camp to help get things done, please let us know!

Camp Snack Prep: We provide snacks for the campers every morning and afternoon. If you have time to prep food, we could use it. Food can be prepped in your own kitchen and dropped off to one of our camp runners each morning.  Our snack coordinator will tell you what to get and how much.  We just need people to help do the washing and chopping. Monday, June 26 – Friday, June 30.

Pie Makers: Thursday night of camp we have a tradition of a Staff Pie Night. If you love to bake, we could use a few of your pies! Thursday, June 29.

Formal Night Team: We are creating a special evening for the campers to dress up and feel like the image bearers of God they were made to be.  We will need help decorating, serving, and cleaning up.  We will also need a few people willing to make special desserts for this occasion. Thursday, June 29th.

Birthday Team: Help decorate the dining deck, be extra help at the carnival, come up for a couple hours and be used wherever you are needed. Wednesday, June 28th.

Speed/Ski Boats: Cachuma looks like it might be high enough to drive boats on.  We want to give the kids a special birthday boat ride.  We need 5 motor boats (with drivers) available for the afternoon of Wednesday, June 28th.

Welcome Home Dinner: After our staff pours into the lives of our campers for a week, we welcome them home with a big thank you dinner on Friday, July 29th. We need your help setting up and serving food.

Camp Set-Up: On Sunday afternoon, June 25th, we need your physical help unloading supplies, moving tables, setting up shade tents and doing other things to get camp ready.

Camp Tear-Down: On Thursday, June 29th we need help tearing down our Activities Centers and packing up supplies. If you have a few hours Thursday afternoon and evening, we need your muscles!

Group Game Leader: We have a few opportunities throughout the week where we need to keep the kids active and entertained while a large portion of our staff is busy doing other things. On Monday, June 26th at check-in and again on Friday, June 30th we need someone to help run big outdoor group games. If you can do either or both of these days, let us know!

Staff Family Support: We have a number of staff members who give up a week of their vacation to be at camp, and leave a spouse home with kids for the week.  You could serve our staff by offering to help a camp spouse with childcare during the day, or giving them a night out while they are on solo duty for the week.  We can help connect you with options if you are interested.

Home Prayer Team: We cannot make this week happen on our own strength and resources. We need people interceding on our behalf, covering our week in prayer. We have a team that meets each morning of camp to pray specific prayers, requested by staff and campers, and then can respond to those requests with notes of encouragement that are delivered back up to camp. Do you have one hour each day June 26th – 30th to be a part of this important piece of our ministry?

BEYOND CAMP

It takes a lot to pull off one week of camp. Some of the work to make it happen is going on all year long. There are many ways you can partner with Royal Family to bring hope to children that have been neglected or abused.

Below is list of ways that you can be part of our Extended Family.

Volunteer Coordinator: We have a lot of people who are willing to help during the week of camp, but we need someone to organize them. This person will work with the Directors to understand what the needs are, and how best to use the volunteers to fit those needs. They will put volunteer teams together and communicate with the volunteers to make sure the needs are being fulfilled. (March – June)

Fundraising Coordinator: We need someone to take on the task of helping raise the $45,000 we need to make camp happen each year. This can range from personal asks, to seeking out corporate sponsors, to putting on events like a silent auction, a boutique, or any other creative ways you can come up with to raise money.

Fundraising Team: We need people who are willing to help support the Fundraising Coordinator. If you have the time and willingness to jump in on events or other fundraising endeavors, please let us know!

Grant Writer: We need someone with skill and experience in grant writing to help us submit proposals to potential donors and businesses.

Publicity: If you have some contacts or ideas of how we can spread the word in our community about what we are doing, we would love the help. Let us know if we can speak at your church to recruit volunteers, submit a grant proposal to your company, or have lunch with your friend who is looking for a great cause to write a check to!

Copy Editor: We need someone who has excellent writing skills to help edit our web content and promotional fliers.

Graphic Designer: We are looking for someone to be on-call to help with our promotional materials. This includes staff recruitment, events, and donor mailings. Would be on a project need basis.

Quarterly eNewsletter: We want to send out a quarterly newsletter to update our donors and supporters on what is happening at camp, club and mentoring.  We need someone who has a little time and computer know-how to help make that happen.

Quilters: We have a dedicated group of women who make a hand-made quilt for each of our campers to go home with. If you are interested in making a quilt for a camper, please let us know so we can get you connected with the dimensions and requirements.
